Odell Barnwell III, MD
Dr. Odell Barnwell III, is a dedicated Pediatrician and Physician‑leader committed to improving the health and well‑being of children and families across South Atlanta. With more than 30 years of clinical experience, he serves as a CEO, Owner, and Attending Physician at South Atlanta Pediatrics, where he provides compassionate, evidence‑based care to diverse and underserved communities. His expertise is in the diagnosis, treatment, and culturally competent education of asthma, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder management, complex neonatal infant care, autism, as well as children with exceptional needs. Furthermore, he has extensive experience in extended hours/urgent care medicine.
Dr. Barnwell is an Atlanta native that graduated Cum Laude from Honors Program at the University of Georgia. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Morehouse School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and received multiple distinctions, including the Primary Care Award and the Ross‑Book Pediatric Award. He completed his Pediatric residency at Emory University School of Medicine and is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Deeply committed to service, Dr. Barnwell serves as Director of the Medical Ministry, which strengthens my community outreach within his local church. His passion for addressing healthcare disparities and supporting underserved families continues to shape his work both inside and outside medical practice. One of his core values is advancing health and wellness for not only our children, but also our families and communities.
Beyond medicine, he enjoys traveling, playing golf, and cherishing time with his greatest joys, his wife, and two children.
