At South Atlanta Pediatrics, we know life with kids can be busy and sometimes unpredictable. That’s why we offer secure telehealth (virtual) visits so your child can receive high-quality pediatric care without leaving home. Whether it’s a follow-up, mild illness, or ongoing management of a chronic condition, our board-certified providers are here to help via secure video.

Why Choose Telehealth?

  • Convenience: No travel, no waiting room, and less disruption to your family’s schedule.

  • Safety & Comfort: Your child stays in their familiar environment — often making them more relaxed during the visit.

  • Quick Access: Same-day or next-day appointments are often available for appropriate concerns.

  • Continuity of Care: Continue seeing the pediatrician your family already knows and trusts.

    Important Information

  • Telehealth visits are available during regular office hours.

  • A parent or legal guardian must participate in the visit.

  • Informed consent for telehealth is required and will be obtained prior to your first virtual visit.

What Types of Visits Work Well via Telehealth?

Many common pediatric concerns can be handled effectively through a virtual visit, including:

  • Follow-up visits for chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, allergies, ADHD, eczema)

  • Mild cold symptoms, sore throat, cough, or fever (when no in-person exam is needed)

  • Medication refills and management

  • Behavioral or developmental concerns

  • Nutrition and growth questions

  • Post-hospital or ER follow-ups

  • Parent questions about rashes, minor injuries, or wellness topics

Note: Some conditions (such as ear infections, severe respiratory issues, or anything requiring a physical exam or lab work) may still need an in-office visit. Our team will help determine the best option when you call or request an appointment.

How a Telehealth Visit Works

  • Schedule — Call our office or request an appointment online. We’ll confirm if a virtual visit is appropriate.

  • Prepare — You’ll receive instructions and a secure link. Have your child nearby, good lighting, and any relevant information (symptoms, medications, photos of rashes if needed).

  • Connect — Join from your computer, tablet, or smartphone using our HIPAA-compliant video platform. A parent or guardian must be present.

  • Visit — Your pediatrician will talk with you and your child, review history, and create a care plan — just like an in-office visit.

  • Follow-Up — Prescriptions (when appropriate), after-visit summaries, and any needed labs or in-person follow-ups will be arranged.

Technology & Security
We use a secure, encrypted, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform designed specifically for healthcare. No downloads are required for basic visits — you simply click the link we send. All visits meet Georgia telehealth standards and protect your child’s privacy.

Insurance & Payment
Most major insurance plans cover telehealth visits. We recommend verifying coverage with your insurance provider. Copays and fees for virtual visits are typically the same as in-office visits. Self-pay options are also available.

Preparing for Your Child’s Virtual Visit – Tips for Parents

  • Choose a quiet, well-lit space.

  • Have your child’s vitals (temperature, height, and weight) and any symptom notes ready.

  • For younger children, have toys or a favorite blanket nearby to keep them comfortable.

  • Test your internet and device beforehand for the best connection.
